Scientific Talk on Eco-Potential and Ecosystem Resilience of Sundarbans Mangrove Ecosystem of India
Fisheries and Marine Resource Technology Discipline, Khulna, Bangladesh – April 28th, 2024 – Khulna University served as the venue for a captivating scientific talk focusing on the past, present, and future of the Sundarbans mangrove ecosystem of India. Prof. Dr. Susanta Kumar Chakraborty, Department of Zoology and Vice-chancellor, Vidyasagar University, India delivered the talk that delved into crucial aspects such as biodiversity, ecodynamics, and environmental perturbation. Attendees gained insights into the ecosystem’s resilience in the face of challenges and the importance of conservation through stewardship and adaptive learning. Threats to the Sundarbans, both historical and contemporary, were examined in detail, highlighting the urgent need for proactive measures to mitigate further degradation. The presentation also explored ecorestoration strategies aimed at restoring the ecosystem’s vitality and enhancing its capacity to withstand environmental stresses.
